Who We Are

We are a collaborative research group dedicated to discovering and developing new knowledge in the domain of emerging technologies—including wearables, virtual reality, and augmented reality. We create spaces to design, prototype, and test new approaches to writing and teaching with emerging technologies.

The ETRC is designed for co-discovery. Our core guiding principles are  invitation, inspiration, and collaboration. In our meetings, ETRC members share research and teaching ideas with one another, and receive constructive feedback for improving their work. We strive to be an open learning space for graduate students and faculty members alike.

Graduate students and faculty members collaborate on projects that study the social, technical, and rhetorical issues of emerging technologies. These collaborations often result in co-authored scholarships such as publications and presentations at the national and international levels.

The ETRC is really more than the sum of its parts: everyone contributes, everyone is welcomed, everyone learns and has the chance to share their ideas. We welcome new and existing students and faculty to join us in our discovery as we cultivate new ideas, create prototypes, test designs, and share results.
